California Citrus Producers, Inc., better known as simply CCPI, began as a farmer’s cooperative in 1972. In 1992 the cooperative structure changed to a standard corporate structure although we still operate very much like a cooperative. CCPI is a family owned and operated company under the ownership of the Elliott Group. Our 17 acre modern facility processes and markets quality fruit juices, concentrates and citrus byproducts both domestically and internationally.

The following is a brief summary of how our operation works. We hope this will give you a better understanding of “What we do”.

Although once a seasonal business following the seasons of the Navel and Valencia oranges, we have grown into a year round processing facility due to the tremendous volumes and varieties of fruit we process in addition to the demand for the finished products we produce.

The overall processing operation begins with incoming fruit via trucks from our independent member packinghouses. We also Co-Process fruit for other manufacturers, returning the finished product to them.

After grading the fruit to remove unacceptable pieces, the fruit goes automatically through a “BOE” or Brown Oil Extractor which extracts the oil from the whole fruit. This oil is further processed, refined and sold as Cold-Pressed Oil. The fruit then goes into the juice extractors, where the juice is separated from the fruit.

After extraction, the Wet Peel material is either sold directly as cattle feed or further processed into a Shaved Peel for use as a food ingredient. We process a wide variety of citrus and other fruits including but not limited to Oranges (Navel, Valencia and Blood Oranges), Tangerines, Lemons, Grapefruit and Pomegranates.

The extracted juice is either pasteurized and remains as “NFC” Not-from-Concentrate Juice or is evaporated into Frozen Concentrated Juice. The NFC or Concentrated Juice is stored in 52-gallon drums or 85,000 gallon bulk tanks in our freezer. We may also bring in quality concentrated juices from other regions and countries to blend with our product. The NFC Juices and Blended Concentrates are sold in bulk form and transported in tankers or drums to large packers or bottled juice operations. California Citrus Producers, Inc. does not have its own brand name, but its products are sold under many well–known labels.
